IAS Officer A.P. Menon Kidnapped By Maoists After Killing 2

One more abduction added in the long list of people abducted by Maoists. This time they have abducted a Collector of Sukma district in Bastar area, Chattisgarh.

IAS Officer A.P. Menon Kidnapped By Maoists After Killing 2Alex Paul Menon, an of 2006 batch IAS officer, aged 32, was abducted while returning from an official program under gram suraj campaign around 17 km from the district headquarters.

A group of around 15 Maoists, present at the seminar, walked up to Menon and tried to take him with them.  When the two guards of Menon resisted the kidnapping, Maoists killed them on site.

The 32-year-old Menon was whisked away on a motorcycle by Maoists.

At the center the Home Minister P Chidambaram has inquired for the details on IAS Menon’s kidnapping. Home Ministry will provide security to  Chhattisgarh C.M. Raman Singh. The CM was advised to  stay calm as now the center will provide him all the security.

A police team headed by police official Abhishek Shandilya has rushed to the spot of incident to collect all the details. It seems that  it was all a pre-planned conspiracy by Maoists.

Till now any demands from the Maoist group have not been received by the local authorities. Director General of Police Anil M. Navaney has called an emergency meeting on the issue.

Earlier to this event Jhina Hikaka was captured by a group Maoists on March 24. He was captured from the Koraput district returning from a meeting.

Release of 29 prisoners were demanded by the Group of Maoists. It was a deal made in return for the Laxmipur MLA. The Government has released only 25 of them.

The most interesting part is how our Government reacts to the demands laid down by Maoist. Maoist related cases are increasing rapidly. The Government has always laid their knees in front of the ruthless Maoists.
